Building a Website
The Internet is now the most common resource for consumers to find the products and services they want. More consumers go online than use the yellow pages. For this reason, it is important for physicians to create their presence on the world wide web. Building a website is fairly simple. Follow these simple steps and you should have a website up and running in no time at all.
1) Secure a domain name. A domain name is your address on the internet. For our site, "PainPhysicians.Org" is our domain name. You must first think of what you wish to name your domain. An example would be "PainManagement.Com". Then you need to find out if this domain is available. I suggest going to the following site: www.godaddy.com (click on the link below). They are one of the largest sellers of domain names in the world and they often have special discounts. Domain names must be renewed yearly. The typical price to pay to register a domain name should be less than $10.00 per year.
2) Purchase Hosting Service. The actual files of a website are stored on a computer owned by the hosting service. The reason you cannot host your own site is that your computer needs to be hooked up to the internet 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Also, you computer may not be as dependable as you think. For these reasons, it is better to rent space on a hosting service's computer (also known as a "server"). I recommend godaddy.com for your hosting service also. They are one of the largest suppliers of servers and can therefore give better rates due to their economy of scale. Hosting service also must be renewed yearly.
3)Design your site: Once you have a domain name and hosting service, you will need to design your website. Although there are many programs you can use to design a website, I suggest hiring a professional. When it comes to websites, image is everything. If you have a cheaply designed site, people will be able to tell. Hiring a designer to create a basic website for a pain management practice should not be very expensive. It is when you add bells and whistles (movies, animations, databases, etc) does the cost increase dramatically. Verified Providers, LLC can broker the design of your website to our qualified list of designers. If you are interested our service, please send an email to:
